This year will bring out some great competition, so start your car design now for the race on March 28, 2008 at Grace United Methodist Church, next to Kroger, in Auburn. There will be no Council race this year from what we've been told. So this is the big race for our scouts!

We'll have custom-embroidered event patches for all registered scouts. We'll have a limited number of custom T-shirts from Tiger Rags. (The T-shirts are only $9.50 pre-order only - don't miss out!) This race is open to all registered Cub Scouts from the Saugahatchee district (Even Webelos 2 scouts who have just crossed over). Your boys spent a lot of time and effort on their cars - please encourage them to participate at the district race - it's not just for pack winners! We are having the "Old Goat" race again this year as well as an "Open" class. Registered Leaders can race free - the boys really love to see those vintage racers. We even have some of the old-style kits for sale. Some of you long-in-the-tooth leaders should come out and show us what it was like in the "good ol' days". Additionally, the district Pinewood Derby isn't just about speed either. We will be awarding several show categories including: "Best of Show", "Most Realistic", "Best Scout Spirit", etc.

The $8.00 "Early Bird" entry fee includes: Patch, recognition certificate, 1 slice pizza, 1 drink, and any trophies earned/awarded. We had a great time last year, and this year promises to be better than ever! Race Day registration is $15.00, but there is still time to pre-register for the race and get the "Early Bird" deal. Send your forms and money with your unit leaders to the District Banquet at the Elks Lodge on Thursday night or you can mail it to the address on the form.

The "Early Bird" deadline has been extended to include mail postmarked no later than Monday, March 9th.
