J. T. McMurtrie, Jr. Saugahatchee District Commissioner
Chairman Scouting for Food Chairman 2007 --------------------------------- Bags
were available for units at the February 1st
Roundtable, and by contacting Ted McMurtrie if your unit wanted to have them
earlier: Email: jmcmurtrie@charter.net, Phone: 887-8267 Scout
leaders could download, edit Pack/Troop number and contact information, and print
small flyers to attach to your bags HERE.
You can repeat this, once edited, to print more than one at a time on a Word document
page. The Saugahatchee District Goal for 2007 was 20,000
lbs of food. If only 20 units collects 1000 lbs we could easily have met our goal.
One suggested goal was for each scout to collect at least his own weight in food. Ted
has suggested that Leaders combine this year's food pickup on Feb 10 with bowling
and the Campout on the Ice night. http://www.saugahatchee.org/CampoutOnTheIce2006.htm Contact
Ted about this idea to encourage your scouts by providing a full scouting day. Ted
also suggested not to knock on doors when placing bags on doorknobs of homes,
but do knock when picking them up since sometimes people forget. Email reminders
and calls to friends and neighbors would help them to remember. Be
sure to walk with smaller scouts in case they approach an animal that is not contained.
