District Leaders receive the Silver Beaver

Congratulations to Bob Edwards and Hilliard Gibbs, who each received the Silver Beaver award from the Chattahoochee Council as part of the council's annual banquet on June 29. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition a Boy Scout council can bestow on an adult volunteer leader. The award is presented to those volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting program. Edwards is a long-time district committee member who, until recently, served as scoutmaster of Troop 356, chartered by Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church in Opelika. Gibbs led Eagle advancement efforts in the district until recently, and continues to serve as scoutmaster of Troop 373, chartered by Greater Peace Baptist Church in Opelika.
